In this article , we will be giving our review of "JUDGEMENTAL HAI KYA" starring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkumar Rao .
JUDGEMENTAL HAI KYA REVIEW
SYNOPSIS
- The movie starts with Bobby(Kangana) as a young kid whose mother is a victim of Domestic Violence. On the Holi Day, her father starts beating her mother on the terrace where she comes and tries to stop them.
- Years later, she has grown up and is a patient of Acute Psychosis. She has a boyfriend Varun(Husain Dalal) who believes she is using him. She is a voice artist but due to her mental condition, starts imagining herself as the character she has dubbed for.She rents her house to Keshav(Rajkummar Rao) and Reema(Amyra Dastur).
- She while dubbing for a movie, notices uncanny similarities in the movie and between Keshav and Reema. Once they go on a trip, she saves Reema from an accident and blames Keshav for that. They after returning want to leave the house but Reema dies due to fire in her house while Keshav was outside busy on a phone call. Police officers (Satish Kaushik and Brijendra Kala) investigate the case but find nothing substantial to prove anyone guilty as Bobby blames Keshav for the murder and vice versa.
- 2 years later, Bobby has no work due to her hallucinations and imagination and her uncle sends her to London to stay with her Cousin Megha(Amrita Puri). She finds that her cousin's husband is Sharavan Kumar ( Rajkummar Rao). Though Sharavan clarifies that his full name is Keshav Sharavan Kumar. Megha takes Bobby to her boss Shridhar( Jimmy Shergill) and asks him if she can play the role of Sita in her Ramayana Drama.
- Bobby again finds some evidences that Keshav is trying to kill Megha who is pregnant. Keshav again thinks that Bobby wants to kill Megha as he finds that Bobby is obsessed about him.
- Will Megha get killed? If so, who will kill her Bobby or Shravan? If not, who will save her? Who killed Reema? Watch the movie to find out who is a bigger mental Bobby or Shravan or we?

PERFORMANCES
- Kangana Ranaut is delight to watch. She is just excellent in the whole movie and makes it a little bearable for us to watch it. She has delivered one of her career's best performance because this kind of acting is next level altogether. Just the last 30 minutes could have better where the logic in story and what is happening on screen is torturous to watch.
- Rajkummar Rao is also at par with Kangana Ranaut. His acting doesn't require much praises because he almost fits in every role and shines completely. But the twist at the end isn't a shocker as audience easily was able to guess the criminal in this boring and yawny Whodunnit drama.
- Amyra Dastur looks very beautiful in her role. She though given a role of 15-20 minutes in the movie, she was the only beautiful thing in the movie.
- Amrita Puri is also good with her part in the movie. Satish Kaushik, Brijendra Kala and Jimmy Shergill are completely wasted in their roles. These are the actors who can bring the house down with laughter with just one good sequence but none of them have been given a single good comedy scene. Kanika Dhillon looks beautiful in her short appearance in the movie.
Story and Direction
- The Direction by Prakash Kovelamudi is okayish.
- Had the story been more appealing and more simpler, the merits of the movie could have been many. The story at hand was very bad. The story is about mental people and is sometimes, cringe to watch. The lead character suffering hallucinations and not being able to prove her innocence is very hard to digest for the audience. Also, the drama is very repetitive in nature and gets tedious at places. Had the story been better, this one could have done wonders with such powerhouse performances.
Music
- Music wise all the songs are equally bad. Wakhra Swag is best of the lot but it comes at the end credits and no one waits for it because everyone by then has suffered a headache of 2 hours.
OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS
- Talking about the technical aspects of the movie, The story is very bad and of repetitive nature. I just don't know did Kangana and Rajkummar chose the script with both taking the wrong decision.
- Screenplay is very slow and pathetic.
- The production value of the film is also good.
My Opinion
- Overall, the movie is a disappointment.
- The movie has very good acting performances but the story disappoints big time.
- The movie is a never ending torture of 2 hours which feels like 3-4 hours in the theatre. This will end the dream Box-Office run which was attaining hits from Bharat- The Lion King. Epic Disappointment !!
Watch it or Watch Out
